What is the purpose of this capsule on a finished bottle?
It is fitted over the cork and bottle neck to give a clean, professional finish and to protect the closure from dust and tampering. The capsule also visually signals that the bottle is still unopened, which matters for presentation and resale.
How is the capsule fixed to the bottle neck?
These capsules are shaped to slip over the neck and are then smoothed or shrunk down to hug the glass - a heat source or a hand capsule-spinner gives the tight, wrinkle-free finish. Test a couple first so you match the method to your neck shape.
