Frequently asked questions about 012.242.2
What bottles are 26mm crown caps suitable for?
26mm is the universal standard size for crown cap bottles used worldwide for beer, cider, soft drinks and many soda bottles. They fit all standard glass bottles designed to be closed with a crown cap. Before ordering, check the mouth diameter of your bottle — most long and short neck beer bottles use this size.
Can crown caps be recycled?
No, crown caps are single use. After fitting with a corker, the metal rim is permanently folded around the neck of the bottle, deforming it. Reusing a deformed cap will not ensure a hermetic seal and may cause oxidation, gas loss or failure. Use fresh caps for each bottling.
What tool is needed to install crown caps?
A table-mounted corker, a two-handed manual corker, or a pneumatic/automatic corker can be used. For home brewing, a benchtop corkscrew offers the best control and consistent sealing. All of our 26mm crown caps are compatible with standard capping equipment available on the market.
Are these crown caps suitable for pasteurization?
Yes, these crown caps can withstand normal pasteurization temperatures (typically 60-70°C). However, they are not intended for high-temperature sterilization in an autoclave. When pasteurizing bottled beer or soft drinks, follow the recommended temperature and time regimen to maintain seal integrity.
How to store crown caps?
Store crown caps in their original packaging in a dry and cool place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Avoid contact with solvents or strong odors, as the plastic inner seal may absorb them. When properly stored, crown caps retain their sealing properties for several years.
