Why must this borosilicate flask be heated and cooled gradually?
Borosilicate withstands high temperatures but is sensitive to thermal shock: a sudden change between hot and cold can crack the glass. Warm and cool it in stages and never place the hot flask on a cold or wet surface.
What does the wide 42 mm mouth make easier?
The wide neck makes filling, adding ingredients and pouring without spills much easier, and lets a brush reach inside for thorough cleaning compared with a narrow-neck flask.
How accurate is the printed graduated scale?
The moulded graduations give a useful approximate reading for juice making and preserving, but they are nominal; for precise analytical volumes use a calibrated measuring cylinder, since flask markings are not exact.

Use a mild detergent and a soft brush, then rinse thoroughly; avoid abrasive scouring pads that scratch the glass and erode the printed markings. For stubborn residue, soak rather than scrub.
