How do I secure a hose onto the barbed end?
Push the hose fully over the barbed end and fix it with a hose clamp tightened over the barb; the ridged profile grips the hose and the clamp prevents it slipping off under pressure.
How do I choose the right hose for it?
Match the hose internal diameter to the barb so the hose fits snugly – too loose and it will leak or blow off, too tight and it is hard to fit. Use a food-grade hose rated for the pressure and the liquid involved.
Why is AISI 316 used for this fitting?
AISI 316 resists corrosion from acidic juices, wine and cleaning chemicals better than standard grades thanks to its molybdenum content, which keeps the connection safe and hygienic over long use.
How should the male thread side be sealed?
Apply PTFE tape or thread sealant to the male thread before screwing it into the female fitting, and tighten until snug; this gives a leak-free joint on the threaded side while the hose clamp seals the barb side.
