Frequently asked questions about this product
What is this union (coupling) nut used for?
It joins two threaded pipe or fitting ends into a detachable, sealed connection. Having both an internal and an external thread lets it bridge mating parts that would not otherwise fit, which is handy when you need to assemble and dismantle a line repeatedly for cleaning.
Why choose AISI 316 over AISI 304 for this part?
AISI 316 contains molybdenum, giving it better resistance to chlorides, salt and aggressive cleaning chemicals than 304. That makes it the safer choice for salty or acidic media and for demanding food-industry or marine environments.
How do I get a leak-free joint with it?
Mate it with the correct 3/4" counterpart, fit a suitable food-grade gasket or seal where the design calls for one, then hand-tighten and snug it with a wrench without over-torquing. Over-tightening can deform the threads and actually cause leaks.
How should I maintain it?
Rinse and clean it with a food-safe detergent, and avoid abrasive tools or scouring pads that scratch the passive surface layer that protects stainless steel. Inspect the threads for damage or galling before each reassembly.
