A 3-piece valve can be unscrewed and taken apart, so dismantle it periodically to clean the ball and seats where sugary wort residue collects; rinse it and operate it half-open during CIP so the cleaning solution reaches the internal cavity.

Leave headspace for the hot break and foaming so the boil doesn't boil over, and lift the full kettle by both ergonomic handles or, better, drain through the valve rather than carrying it; a 70 L charge is heavy and hot.
