Frequently asked questions about this product
What does this reducing socket let me do?
A socket has an internal thread at each end, here 1/2 inch BSP on one side and 3/8 inch BSP on the other. It connects two male-threaded fittings of different sizes, letting you step a 1/2 inch line down to 3/8 inch without replacing the surrounding hardware.
Why is PTFE/teflon tape recommended when fitting it?
The supplier recommends teflon tape on assembly because BSP threads usually need a sealant to be fully leak-tight. Wrap the male thread a few turns in the tightening direction to fill the thread clearance and help prevent weeping at the joint.
Is 304 stainless suitable for food and beverage use?
Yes. 304 grade stainless steel is corrosion-resistant and widely used for brewery and food-contact hardware, so the reducer withstands repeated cleaning and wet service without rusting.
What should I check before relying on it?
Confirm both fittings are BSP rather than NPT and that you genuinely need the 1/2 inch to 3/8 inch step. Matching the thread standard and the two sizes avoids cross-threading and leaks.
