Stainless steel casing (ABS plastic for SBS300P model) - dry pump - digital control panel with automatic and/or manual working cycle - 5 mm sealing. Accessories: embossed bags in various sizes - embossed rolls to obtain bags of the desired length.

A bar (external suction) vacuum packer draws air from the bag opening via a suction nozzle, while a chamber machine evacuates the entire chamber. Bar packers are more compact and affordable, ideal for smaller volumes and dry products. However, they cannot vacuum-pack liquids (soups, marinades) and achieve a slightly lower vacuum level. Choose a bar model for light commercial use or as a supplementary machine alongside a chamber unit.

Which bag types should be used with this bar vacuum packer?

Bar vacuum packers require textured or embossed bags (also called channel bags) with a pattern that creates air channels for complete evacuation. Smooth bags designed for chamber machines will not work properly. FERMETECH stocks compatible textured bags in rolls and pre-cut sizes. Roll bags allow custom-length portions, reducing bag waste for irregularly shaped products.

Is this bar vacuum packer suitable for sous-vide cooking preparation?

Yes, when used with heat-resistant textured bags rated for cooking temperatures. The sealed bags can go directly into a water bath or combi-steamer. For best results with sous-vide, choose products with minimal liquid content, as bar packers may struggle to seal bags containing significant liquids. For liquid-heavy sous-vide preparations, consider upgrading to a chamber vacuum packer.

How long does the sealing bar last and when should it be replaced?

The sealing wire and PTFE tape are consumable parts that typically last 3,000-5,000 cycles under normal use. Signs of wear include incomplete seals, uneven seal lines, or bags that lose vacuum within hours. FERMETECH keeps replacement sealing kits in stock — the replacement takes approximately 10 minutes and requires no special tools. We recommend keeping a spare kit on hand for uninterrupted operation.
