Frequently asked questions about this product
How does the Liverani EP Mini prime itself, and what does the 6 m suction depth mean in practice?
The flexible food-grade (EPDM) impeller seals against the housing and creates a vacuum as it turns, so the pump draws the liquid up on its own without being filled first. In practice it can start dry and lift liquid from a tank or pit up to about 6 m below the pump. Avoid running it dry for long once primed, as the impeller relies on the liquid for lubrication and cooling.
What does the built-in bypass valve add compared with a plain pump?
The bypass valve gives the liquid a path to recirculate if the outlet is closed or blocked, so pressure can't build up and damage the pump or burst a hose. This makes it safer to leave running against a temporarily shut valve and helps protect the seal during start-up. It does not change the rated 1000 L/h, which is still measured on water.
Will I get the full 1000 L/h when pumping thick liquids such as syrup or lees?
The 1000 L/h figure is measured with water (1 cP). Thicker liquids move more slowly through the pump, so real output drops as viscosity rises — roughly up to 40% less around 1000 cP. When you plan to move dense juice, lees or syrup, choose a model with throughput to spare rather than one rated exactly at your target.
How do I keep the impeller and shaft seal in good condition, and which liquids suit the standard seal?
Flush the pump with clean water after each use and don't leave the impeller compressed and dry in storage for long periods, as that shortens its life. The standard EPDM impeller with ceramic/graphite/NBR seal is intended for food liquids in the pH 5–9 range up to 95°C; for more aggressive media, Liverani offers alternative impeller materials such as nitrile, neoprene or silicone and a SiC/Viton seal.
