Frequently asked questions about AKP0059
Is AISI 304 stainless steel safe for Kombucha?
Yes. AISI 304 (18/10) is fully food grade and widely used for Kombucha, vinegar and other acid fermentations. The polished inner surface is resistant to the acidic environment created by the SCOBY cultures and is easy to clean.
How does the cotton cover work?
The stainless cover attaches with 4 hooks and combines with a cotton cover that allows the culture to breathe but blocks dust, flies and pollutants. This airflow is essential for the aerobic fermentation of Kombucha, unlike the anaerobic process of wine or beer.
What is a ½" faucet for?
A ½" stainless steel tap at the bottom of the container allows you to dispense the finished Kombucha without disturbing the SCOBY floating on the surface. Always make sure the tap is straight before final attachment — this ensures a leak-free connection.
Can the vessel be heated over an open flame?
No. This container is not suitable for direct contact with flame. The tea should be brewed and cooled separately before it is poured into the fermentation vessel. An open flame can deform the 0.6mm wall and damage the welded bottom.
How to clean and maintain the container?
Rinse after each batch with warm water and a mild, non-abrasive detergent. The welded round bottom and polished inner surface prevent sediment build-up. Avoid chlorine-based cleaners, which can damage stainless steel. Dry thoroughly before storing.
