What liquids can the EUR 20 filter process?
The EUR 20 handles wines (still and sparkling), olive oil, low-alcohol spirits, and herbal products. Different pad grades are available — from coarse clarifying pads to sterile-grade pads for final bottling filtration, allowing you to match the filtration level to your product requirements.
How often do the filter pads need replacing?
Filter pads are single-use and must be replaced for each filtration run. A set of 20 pads (40x40cm) is used per session. Pad life depends on product turbidity — heavily cloudy wine may clog pads faster, requiring mid-run pad changes for large volumes.
Can this filter achieve sterile filtration for bottling?
Yes, when used with sterile-grade pads (0.45 micron nominal), the EUR 20 provides filtration suitable for bottling without additional preservatives. This is critical for wines with residual sugar or low SO2 levels where microbial stability is essential.
What pump is needed to drive liquid through the filter?
A separate pump is required (not included). FERMETECH recommends a peristaltic or flexible-impeller pump rated for 10-20 hl/h flow. The pump must provide adequate pressure to push liquid through 20 pads without exceeding the frame's pressure rating.
How should the stainless steel frame be maintained?
Rinse the frame with clean water after each use and inspect pad seating surfaces for residue buildup. The tightening mechanism should be lubricated annually. Store disassembled in a dry area. FERMETECH supplies replacement gaskets and frame components.
