Frequently asked questions about this product
Why choose a PTFE gasket over rubber types?
PTFE resists a very wide range of chemicals and high temperatures and is essentially inert, so it will not taint product or break down in aggressive cleaning, unlike EPDM or silicone in some duties. That makes it the choice for steam, solvents and demanding hygiene applications.
How do I fit it correctly in a tri-clamp joint?
Seat the gasket flat between the two ferrule faces, then close and tighten the clamp just enough to compress it evenly without over-squeezing. Because PTFE has little elasticity, even tightening matters more than with rubber, and a deformed gasket should be replaced rather than reused.
Does PTFE have limitations I should know about?
PTFE is firmer and less elastic than rubber, so it tolerates less flange misalignment and can take a permanent set under heavy load, which is why it is often replaced at reassembly. For frequent quick disconnects with cool liquids, an elastomer gasket may seal more forgivingly.
How do I match it to my fitting?
It is made to the DIN 32676 standard in the 3/4 inch size, so confirm both your clamp and ferrules are the same standard and size before fitting. Mixing standards or sizes is the usual cause of a gasket that will not seal.
