What is this reducing nipple for?
It connects two threaded lines of different diameters — 1 1/2" and 1 1/4" — in one piece, avoiding a stack of separate adapters and reducing the number of joints that could leak.
Why does the flat-sealing BSPP thread matter?
BSPP is a parallel thread that seals on a flat face with a gasket or washer, not on the threads. Without the correct flat seal in place the joint will weep even when the thread is fully tightened.
Why is AISI 316 used and how do I keep it clean?
AISI 316 resists corrosion and acidic media and meets food-industry hygiene requirements. Clean it with standard food-safe agents; its smooth stainless surface wipes down easily and does not harbour residue.
How should the stainless threads be tightened?
Apply a suitable anti-seize compound and tighten gradually. Stainless steel is prone to thread galling if run up dry or forced, which can lock the parts together permanently.
