Why is AISI 316 stainless steel preferred over AISI 304 for this elbow?
AISI 316 contains added molybdenum, which gives markedly better resistance to the acids and chlorides found in fruit juices and many cleaning agents. In acidic food-processing lines this translates into a longer service life and less risk of pitting corrosion than standard 304.
How should the threaded connections be sealed to avoid leaks?
Apply food-grade PTFE tape or a suitable thread sealant to the threads, then tighten hand-tight and finish with a controlled turn using a wrench. Over-tightening can deform the thread and actually create leak paths, so stop as soon as the joint is firm.
Can it be combined with fittings of a different thread standard?
It is best paired with matching threads; when joining to a different standard such as NPT or a metric thread, use a proper adapter rather than forcing the parts together, which prevents cross-threading and leaks.
How do I keep the elbow hygienic during cleaning?
Its smooth stainless surface tolerates alkaline and acidic CIP solutions and elevated temperatures and resists product build-up. Flush thoroughly with clean water after each cleaning cycle so no cleaning-agent residue remains in the bend.
