Press 60 hydraulic steel cage
Usage: Hydraulic wine press for small and medium wine production (700kg grapes capacity). Made in Italy with drawn steel worm screw for extreme pressing force.
Features: Stainless steel cage (Ø600mm, H740mm) with removable pins, hydraulic jack with pressure gauge (cast iron), reinforced steel must basin with gussets, complete with chunks and crescents.
Technical data: Max. operating pressure: 400atm. Screw diameter: 60mm. Weight: 215kg. Cage dimensions: Ø600mm × 740mm.
Instructions:
- Fill tank with glycerine oil through cap (14).
- Turn jackscrew to highest position using nut screw (2); insert plug (4) into stop ring (3).
- Fill cage with grape pomace evenly to avoid screw tilting.
- Place half-moon press plates and blocks; tighten nut screw (2) until jackscrew rests on blocks.
- Unscrew clamps (12) to lowest position.
- Tighten discharge unit knob and pump until pistons reach maximum stroke; screw ring (3) against jackscrew.
- Release pressure via discharge knob; turn nut screw (2) until pistons fall; pump to 400atm. After 2-3 cycles, empty cage.
- Do not exceed 400atm - safety valve activates above this pressure.
Frequently asked questions about this product
What types of fruit can be pressed with this hydraulic press?
This press is designed primarily for grape pomace pressing in wine production, but works equally well with apples, pears, berries, and other soft fruit. The 700kg capacity and 400atm maximum pressure ensure thorough juice extraction from any fruit type commonly processed in small and medium-scale beverage production.
How often should the hydraulic oil be replaced?
The glycerine oil in the hydraulic tank should be checked before each pressing season and replaced annually or when it becomes cloudy or contaminated. Always use food-grade glycerine oil and fill through cap (14) as indicated in the manual. FERMETECH can supply compatible hydraulic oil.
What maintenance is required between pressing seasons?
After the season, thoroughly clean all must-contact surfaces, remove and wash the stainless steel cage pins, lubricate the worm screw thread, and store in a dry location. Inspect the pressure gauge calibration and check hydraulic seals for any leakage before the next season.
Is the safety valve user-serviceable?
The safety valve activates automatically above 400atm to prevent over-pressurisation. It is factory-calibrated and should not be adjusted by the user. If the valve triggers frequently or leaks, contact FERMETECH for professional inspection or replacement.
Can the stainless steel cage be disassembled for cleaning?
Yes, the cage features removable pins that allow easy disassembly for thorough post-pressing cleaning. This ensures no fruit residue remains between the slats, preventing mould growth and maintaining hygiene between batches.
