What is the blow-off barb used for during fermentation?
It fits the blow-out and airlock holes of FTS and bucket lids, letting you attach a 1/2" hose to vent vigorous fermentation when an airlock alone cannot cope with the foam and CO2.
Why does it include two O-rings?
One O-ring is fitted and one is a spare. The seal is the part that wears, so having a replacement on hand lets you restore a tight, leak-free fit without taking the equipment out of service.
How should it be kept hygienic between batches?
Because it is made of 304 stainless steel you can disassemble it, wash and sanitise it fully, and inspect the O-ring for residue or damage before refitting it.
