Frequently asked questions about this product
Can the P5 panel control both heating and cooling of fermenters?
The P5 panel controls the refrigeration system connected to your fermenters. It manages cooling cycles to maintain set temperatures. For heating, a separate heating element or glycol system would be needed. The automatic mode handles temperature regulation without manual intervention once set points are programmed.
What type of temperature probes are compatible with the P5?
The P5 uses standard NTC or PT100 temperature probes (depending on configuration) that are inserted into the thermowell on each fermenter. FERMETECH supplies compatible probes designed for food-grade fermentation environments with the appropriate cable length for cellar installations.
Can I add more fermenters later if I start with fewer than 5?
Yes, you can start with as few as one fermenter connected and add up to five total at any time. Each of the 5 independent channels has its own display and temperature set point, so unused channels simply remain inactive until a new fermenter is connected.
What happens if a probe fails or disconnects during fermentation?
The P5 panel displays an error on the affected channel and can be set to either hold the last cooling state or shut off the valve for safety. It is recommended to check probe connections before each fermentation cycle and keep spare probes available for quick replacement.
Does the panel require professional installation?
While the electrical connection (220V 50Hz) is straightforward, FERMETECH recommends professional installation to ensure proper wiring to solenoid valves and the refrigeration unit. FERMETECH provides wiring diagrams and can arrange certified electrician support for your cellar setup.
