How do I apply a heat-shrink capsule and get an even, wrinkle-free finish?
Place the capsule over the bottle neck so it sits squarely on top, then apply hot air with a heat gun or a dedicated capsule shrinking tool. Keep the heat moving around and down the neck rather than holding it in one spot, so the capsule shrinks uniformly and grips tightly without creases or scorch marks.
Do these capsules seal the bottle, or are they only decorative and protective?
The capsule is a protective and decorative cover over the closure, not the liquid seal itself - the cork or cap does the actual sealing. Once shrunk, it fits tightly around the neck to shield the cork from moisture and handling and to give the bottle a finished, tamper-evident appearance.
How do I choose the right capsule size for my bottles?
Match the capsule diameter to the outside of your bottle neck and closure. A capsule that is too wide will not grip cleanly and may wrinkle, while one that is too narrow will not slide over the cork or cap. Check the neck dimensions of your bottles before ordering, since necks vary between bottle types.
Can I apply these by hand for small batches, or do I need a production line?
They work both ways. For home use and small batches a handheld heat gun is enough; the same capsules also run on automated bottling lines, so you can keep using them as your production grows.
How should I store unused capsules so they stay usable?
Keep them in a cool, dry place away from radiators, direct sun and other heat sources. Because they react to heat, warmth during storage can pre-shrink or distort them, which then prevents a clean, even fit when you come to apply them.
