Frequently asked questions about this product
What does the 210 micron mesh rating mean in practice?
The 210 micron rating describes the size of openings in the polyester mesh. It is fine enough to hold back grain and hops while letting wort flow through, giving good separation without clogging as quickly as a much finer mesh would.
Why must the grain-filled bag not touch the kettle bottom?
Direct contact with the hot kettle base can scorch or melt the fabric and damage the bag. Suspending it, or using a false bottom or trivet, keeps the material away from the hottest surface and protects the seams.
Why are the seams turned outward?
Outward-facing seams keep the inner surface smooth so grain and trub do not catch in the stitching. This makes the bag easier to empty and rinse and supports a cleaner brewing process.
How should the bag be cleaned to last for repeated use?
It can be washed by hand in warm water or in a dishwasher, then rinsed three times with clean water and dried thoroughly before storage. Drying fully prevents trapped moisture and odours between brews.
