Where is a threaded end cap like this typically used?
It seals off an unused 1" threaded port on a tank, pipeline or piece of food-processing equipment. Capping spare outlets keeps lines closed and clean when they are not in service.
Is it suitable for acidic juices and CIP cleaning?
Yes. The stainless steel body is made to food-industry requirements and resists both acidic and alkaline environments, so it stands up to fruit acids and to the cleaning chemicals used in clean-in-place routines.
Do I need a seal or thread sealant with it?
The external thread screws onto the matching port, but for a fully liquid-tight seal it is good practice to use a suitable food-grade thread seal where your fitting calls for one. Hand-tighten first and check for drips before relying on it under pressure.
