What is this elbow fitting used for?
It changes the direction of a piping run by 90 degrees, letting you route pipework around corners in brewing, winemaking, food processing and HoReCa systems.
What does male-female mean for connecting it?
One end has a male 1/4" BSP thread and the other a female 1/4" BSP thread. You screw the male end into a female port while the female end receives another male fitting, so you can chain fittings without an extra adapter.
Is it suitable for food-contact use?
Yes. It is made from AISI 304 stainless steel and is food-grade and corrosion-resistant, making it appropriate for food and beverage systems.
How do I get a leak-free seal on the threads?
As with other BSP threaded fittings, applying thread sealing tape (PTFE) to the male thread before tightening helps achieve a leak-free joint.
