What hose size does this barb accept?
It is sized for 13mm hose; the barbed profile grips the hose bore so that, in most low- to medium-pressure uses, it holds securely without an additional clamp.
How does the 1/2-inch BSP female thread seal to equipment?
It screws onto a male 1/2-inch BSP fitting. Because BSP parallel threads seal on a face or washer rather than on the thread itself, add PTFE thread-seal tape or a gasket as needed to prevent weeping.
Why is AISI 304 stainless steel used here?
AISI 304 resists corrosion and is easy to keep hygienic, which makes it well suited to brewing, winemaking and food-production lines where cleanliness matters.
Should a hose clamp still be fitted in some cases?
Yes. For hot liquid, higher pressure or vibration, fitting a clamp over the barb guards against the hose creeping off, while the barb alone is enough for many gravity or low-pressure uses.
