      Additional Recommendations

We recommend using glass bottles. You can reuse glass bottles from other beers you have consumed. For carbonation, use carbonation drops or sugar for bottle priming.

      Important Notes

SPECIAL NOTE: This fermenter has not been pressure tested and is not designed for fermenting under pressure, pressure transferring, or carbonating. If you are looking for a pressure-rated fermenter in which you can carbonate, we recommend choosing the "FermZilla All-Rounder 30L or 60L" or "FermZilla Conical Uni Tank 27L and 55L" models. For this reason, this tank does not come with a PRV valve, and we do not recommend putting it under pressure through modification.

WARNING: This fermenter is rated for temperatures up to 45°C. Make sure to cool the liquid below this temperature before pouring it into the fermenter. If you need to dissolve extract syrup with boiling water, be sure to cover the syrup with sanitized foil or the sanitized lid of the can while cooling and cool it below 45°C, for example, in an ice bath.

6 Reasons Why FermZilla Flat Bottom is Superior

      1. Ultra-smooth surface
The PET material is ultra-smooth, making cleaning easier. Other HDPE fermenters have very porous walls, which means fermentation residue sticks to the walls, and the holes in HDPE are large enough for bacteria to grow in the fermenter wall.

      2. Better oxygen barrier
Some fermenters, like the Coopers type, are not even airtight and have a loosely fitting lid, allowing oxygen to easily enter the fermenter. Other fermenters are often made of HDPE, which has a high gas transmission rate, meaning oxygen can pass through the fermenter wall.

      3. Integrated tap
The Fermzilla flat bottom comes with a pre-drilled hole for an adjustable tap. This makes bottling much easier than using a siphon.

      4. Lightweight and strong
FermZilla fermenters are lightweight but truly strong and shatterproof.

      5. Convenient lid opening size
The opening at the top has a diameter of 120mm, making it easy to insert your hand for cleaning, yet small enough to easily close the lid with minimal force.

      6. New ergonomic lid design
The new lid design makes lifting the vessel much easier than previous metal versions. It has a pre-installed silicone grommet in the lid for inserting the three-piece airlock.

      General Principle of Beer Brewing

Beer brewing is a fermentation-based process where brewer's yeast converts sugars into alcohol and carbon dioxide. In the FermZilla fermenter, you can monitor the entire process through the transparent wall, check the fermentation temperature with the adhesive thermometer, and assess the alcohol content using the hydrometer. When fermentation is complete, you can easily bottle the beer through the integrated tap and cap the bottles with the included bottle capper.

    • Frequently Asked Questions

Is this fermenter suitable for pressure fermentation?

No, this FermZilla flat bottom is not pressure resistant and is not pressure tested. It is only intended for conventional open fermentation with an air lock. If you want to ferment under pressure or carbonate in a fermenter, choose the FermZilla All-Rounder or Conical Uni Tank models, which are specially designed for use under pressure.

What is the maximum temperature of this fermenter?

The container is designed for temperatures up to 45°C. Always cool the wort below this temperature before pouring. If you dissolve the malt extract in boiling water, cover the mixture with sterilized foil and cool it, for example, in an ice bath, before transferring.

How many 30 liter bottles can I fill?

A 30L batch yields approximately 60 bottles of 0.5L or 90 bottles of 0.33L, depending on bottle size and losses due to yeast sediment. The kit contains 100 gold crown caps, which is sufficient for a typical batch and reserve.

Is the PET material food safe?

Yes, PET (polyethylene terephthalate) material is food grade and safe for beverage fermentation. PET also offers a better oxygen barrier than HDPE and has a super smooth surface that is easier to clean and less conducive to bacteria growth.

Do I need any additional equipment to start brewing?

You need a set of beer ingredients (malt extract and yeast), glass bottles and carbonation tablets or sugar. The starter kit contains all the necessary basic equipment: fermentation vessel, airlock, thermometer, hydrometer, bottling stick, corks and bottle stopper.
