Description
Cooling Tube Heat Exchanger 35L BrewZilla Gen 4 + 3.1.1
Stainless Steel Immersion Chiller sold with the BrewZilla series. These compact immersion chillers are excellent for cooling up to 35L of wort to fermentation temperature. An ideal solution for those using smaller pots.
Usage Method 1: Direct Water Flow
This chiller can be used by simply connecting a garden hose to both ends of the chiller. You can slide the garden hose directly onto the chiller ends and secure with stepless hose clamps. Alternatively, use pressure fittings for better connection.
Then lower the chiller into hot wort and let water flow through the chiller until desired temperature is reached. When water flows through the chiller, stirring the hot wort significantly helps with heat transfer from the wort to the cooling coil and reduces cooling time by more than half.
Usage Method 2: Wort Circulation Through Chiller
The second method involves pumping hot wort through the center of the chiller. Use silicone tubing to connect the kettle to the pump and then through this coil chiller and back to the kettle. Turn on the pump and ensure the chiller reaches wort boiling temperature to sterilize the coil with heat.
Then place the coil in a bucket with ice and water mixture. Run the pump continuously until the wort cools to desired temperature.
Technical Specifications
- Chiller coiled section: 24 cm high x 19 cm diameter
- Total chiller height: 41 cm
- Tubing: 12.7 mm, 304 stainless steel
- Capacity: up to 35L
- Compatible with: BrewZilla Gen 4 and 3.1.1
The cooling coil heat exchanger is an essential component in home beer brewing that allows quick cooling of hot wort to fermentation temperature. Rapid cooling helps maintain beer quality and prevent unwanted flavor development.

Frequently asked questions about this product
What are the two ways to use this immersion chiller?
First, direct water flow: connect a garden hose to both ends (slide it on and secure with stepless hose clamps, or use pressure fittings) and lower the coil into the hot wort so cold water runs through it. Second, wort circulation: pump the hot wort itself through the centre of the coil and back to the kettle while the coil sits in an ice-water bath. Both cool up to 35L of wort to fermentation temperature.
How can I cool the wort faster?
With the direct water-flow method, stirring the hot wort while water runs through the coil markedly improves heat transfer and can cut cooling time by more than half. Constant movement replaces the cooled layer next to the metal with hotter wort, keeping the temperature gap — and the cooling rate — high.
Why must the coil be sterilised in the circulation method?
In the circulation method the wort passes through the inside of the coil, so the coil must be sanitised first. Running it until it reaches wort boiling temperature sterilises the coil with heat before you switch to the ice-water bath, protecting the cooled wort from infection during a vulnerable stage.
Why is rapid cooling important, and what size system is this for?
Quick cooling to fermentation temperature helps preserve beer quality and shortens the window for unwanted flavour development. This compact chiller is sized for up to 35L and is compatible with BrewZilla Gen 4 and 3.1.1, making it well suited to smaller pots and batches.
