How do I keep a quick connector hygienic between uses?
Disconnect and rinse it after each production run, then clean the seal seat and locking surfaces where residue and pulp collect. Because it meets food-contact requirements, it can be cleaned with standard food-grade detergents; let it dry before storing to prevent biofilm.
Why is the seal so important and when should it be replaced?
The seal, not the metal body, is what makes the connection leak-tight, so a worn, hardened or swollen seal is the usual cause of dripping joints. Inspect it regularly and replace it when it loses elasticity or shows cracks, rather than over-tightening the coupling to compensate.
Can it be connected and disconnected under pressure?
No, always release the line pressure before opening the coupling. Disconnecting a pressurised line can spray liquid, damage the seal and create a hygiene and safety hazard.
