What liquid should I use in the fermentation liquid cap?
Pure water is fine for most uses. For longer fermentations or better control of microbial contamination, we recommend a 10% sulfite (metabisulfite) solution. Avoid using alcohol as it evaporates quickly and loses its sealing function.
How often should I check the fluid level?
During active fermentation, check the liquid level at least once a week. In a warm environment or during long fermentations, the liquid evaporates faster. Always fill to the indicated level to maintain an airtight seal and prevent air from flowing back into the tank.
Does the rubber cap fit all bottle necks?
The rubber cap included in the set is designed for bottle necks and openings of approximately ∅40mm. It fits most demijohns and fermentation bottles between 1 and 50 liters. For other sizes, check the opening dimensions before purchasing.
How do I know the fermentation is active?
Active fermentation is visible as bubbles moving through the fermentation liquid cap. With the 2-bubble model, you can clearly monitor the frequency of CO₂ release. If the bubbling slows or stops significantly, the fermentation is nearing completion.
How to clean the fermentation liquid cap after use?
Remove the fermentation liquid cap and rinse all parts thoroughly with warm water. For more thorough cleaning, use a mild detergent or disinfectant solution and then rinse thoroughly. Dry completely before storing to prevent mold and contamination the next time you use it.
