How should this valve be cleaned in a food or juice line?
Move the handle to the fully open and the fully closed position during each cleaning (CIP) cycle so the cleaning solution reaches the cavity around the ball. A standard ball valve has a dead space behind the ball where residue can collect if it is only flushed in one position.
Can the valve be used to regulate or throttle the flow?
It is built for on/off duty, not flow control. Holding the ball partly open forces the flow across the edge of the seat and gradually wears the seats, which can lead to leakage. Use a regulating valve if you need to adjust the flow.
Is it suitable for acidic media such as fruit juice?
AISI 316 stainless steel resists acidic environments well, so the body is appropriate for fruit and juice processing. Also check that the seat and seal material suits your medium and operating temperature.
How do I get a leak-free threaded connection?
Use a suitable thread sealant or PTFE tape on the threads and tighten gradually. Avoid over-tightening, which can distort the body or stress the threads; the joint should be snug, not forced.
