Do I need two different Tri-Clamp clamps and gaskets to install this reducer?
Yes. Each end has a different flange size, one for a 2-inch Tri-Clamp connection and one for 1.5-inch, so you need a clamp and a gasket sized for each end. The reducer itself does not include clamps or gaskets, which are bought separately to match the ferrules on your equipment.
What does concentric mean and when should I choose it over an eccentric reducer?
Concentric means both ends share the same centre line, so the bore narrows symmetrically. This is the general-purpose choice for vertical runs and most piping. An eccentric reducer, flat on one side, is used in horizontal lines where you need to avoid trapping air or to drain completely; for typical Tri-Clamp assemblies the concentric form is standard.
Why use a reducer instead of connecting a 2-inch part directly to a 1.5-inch part?
Tri-Clamp fittings only seal between two flanges of the same size, so a 2-inch ferrule cannot clamp directly onto a 1.5-inch ferrule. The reducer provides a matching flange on each side, letting you step between the two sizes while keeping a sanitary, gasketed seal.
Is this fitting suitable for food and beverage use, and how is it kept hygienic?
It is made of AISI 304 stainless steel and uses thread-free Tri-Clamp connections, which have no crevices where residue can collect. Because the clamp opens by hand, the reducer and its gasket can be removed quickly for cleaning or inspection between batches.
