It is a safety valve that releases excess pressure from a pressure vessel before it can exceed safe limits. Without a working relief valve, pressure could build beyond what the vessel and lid are designed to withstand.
What is the maximum pressure rating?
The valve is rated for a maximum of 8.9 bar (130 PSI), the point at which it relieves pressure. It must always be matched to a vessel whose rating is compatible with this figure.
Where is the valve installed?
It mounts on the pressure container lid, where it can sense and vent the internal pressure directly. Fitting it on the lid keeps the release path clear of the contents below.
How should the valve be maintained?
Keep the valve and its outlet clean and free of dried residue so it can open freely when needed, and check periodically that it is not stuck. A blocked or seized safety valve cannot protect the vessel, so do not paint over it or obstruct it.
