Frequently asked questions about this product
Why is dark brown glass better than clear glass for juices and syrups?
The brown tint blocks most ultraviolet and visible light, which slows oxidation and the breakdown of colour, vitamins and aroma compounds. For light-sensitive products such as fruit juice, syrup or oil it noticeably extends shelf life compared with clear glass kept in the same conditions.
Can I hot-fill or pasteurise in this bottle?
Glass tolerates pasteurisation and hot filling, but it is sensitive to sudden temperature change. Warm the empty bottle first, fill gradually and let it cool slowly; avoid placing a hot bottle on a cold surface or filling a cold bottle with near-boiling liquid, as thermal shock can crack the glass.
How should I clean and sterilise the bottle before filling?
Wash in hot water with detergent, rinse thoroughly, then sterilise by boiling, steaming or heating in an oven before use. Fill while the bottle is still warm if you are hot-filling, and make sure it is fully dry inside if you are filling a cold product.
Which closure fits this bottle and how much headspace should I leave?
Match the closure to the bottle's neck finish rather than only its volume, so the thread or crown seat and the seal line up correctly. Leave a small air gap below the neck so the closure seats properly and the contents have room to expand during pasteurising or freezing.
