    • Carbonation Kit 18.9L (Slow)

This professional carbonation kit is designed for home brewers and small-scale producers who want to carbonate their beverages with quality and control. The kit includes all necessary components to start carbonating drinks immediately after purchase. The carbonation process uses a diffusion stone that creates very fine CO2 bubbles, ensuring even saturation of the beverage with carbon dioxide. Since the diffusion stone method is slower than forced carbonation under high pressure, achieving full carbonation takes approximately 2-3 days, but the result is higher quality and more stable.

      Components and Construction

The kit includes an 18.9-litre stainless steel pressure vessel equipped with ball lock connections and capable of withstanding working pressure up to 9 bar. The vessel is made from quality 304 stainless steel with orbital welded smooth seams and a passivated surface, ensuring excellent corrosion resistance and easy cleaning. The lid features a pressure relief valve for safety.

For pressure regulation and monitoring, the kit includes a Kegland MK5 dual gauge CO2 regulator. The regulator displays both cylinder residual pressure and output pressure, allowing precise control over the carbonation process. The large body and precision diaphragm regulator ensures high flow rates and very accurate pressure adjustment in the range of 0-65 PSI.

The carbonation lid with 0.5-micron diffusion stone is the key component of the kit, enabling fast and even carbonation. The stainless steel diffusion stone creates extremely fine CO2 bubbles that dissolve into the beverage much faster than regular large bubbles. The lid fits standard Cornelius-type vessels and includes a ball lock gas post and 60 cm of tubing.

For making connections, the kit includes quality Duotight quick connectors that allow tubing connection without additional tools, simply by pushing the tubing in. The white ball lock quick disconnect with 5/16 thread connects the gas line to the pressure vessel, and the Duotight 5/16 × 8 mm adapter ensures smooth connection between tubing of different diameters. The quick connectors are made from chemically resistant material with stainless steel springs.

The blue 6×8 mm tubing included in the kit is designed for gas line connection and works ideally with Duotight fittings. The tubing has an outer diameter of 8 mm and inner diameter of 6 mm, ensuring sufficient gas flow for carbonation.

      Usage Instructions

The basic principle of use is as follows: connect the CO2 cylinder to the regulator, connect the regulator via tubing and quick connectors to the gas fitting on the carbonation lid, place the carbonation lid on the vessel, and adjust the desired pressure. For beverage carbonation, it is recommended to keep the vessel at a cooled temperature, as CO2 dissolves better in cold liquid. The optimal temperature is 2-8 degrees Celsius. To achieve full carbonation, leave the beverage under pressure for 2-3 days, shaking the vessel occasionally for a more even result.

Please note: this kit does not include an output valve or beer tap for dispensing the carbonated beverage. The output valve kit must be purchased separately according to your needs and the system you are using.

The kit is excellent for making beer, cider, kombucha, kvass, lemonade, and other carbonated beverages. Stainless steel components ensure long service life and easy maintenance. All parts are food-safe and suitable for professional use.

    • Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the slow carbonation method take 2-3 days?

The slow method uses a 0.5µ diffusion stone that creates extremely fine CO2 bubbles, allowing gradual and even saturation of the drink at moderate pressure. Although it takes longer than high-pressure forced carbonation, it provides a more stable result, better flavor integration, and reduces the risk of over-carbonation or foaming during dispensing.

What is the optimal temperature for carbonation?

The optimal temperature range is 2-8°C. CO2 dissolves significantly better in cold liquid, so keeping the pressure vessel cool during the carbonation process ensures effective saturation and reduces the required pressure. Warmer liquids absorb less CO2 and require higher pressure to achieve the same level of carbonation.

      Is the CO2 cylinder included?

No, the CO2 cylinder is not included and must be purchased separately. The kit includes a Kegland MK5 regulator that connects to a standard CO2 cylinder. Also, the kit does not include a dispensing tap or outlet valve — these components must be ordered according to the specific system and dispensing needs.

What drinks can I carbonate with this kit?

The set is suitable for beer, cider, kombucha, kalia, lemonade and other carbonated drinks. The 304 stainless steel container is food safe and suitable for both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Thanks to easy cleaning and the passivated surface, you can switch between drinks without the risk of cross-contamination.

How to clean and maintain a diffusion stone?

The stainless steel diffusion stone should be thoroughly rinsed in hot water after each use and periodically soaked in a food-safe cleaning solution (eg, PBW or oxygen-based cleaner) to remove any residue. Avoid harsh abrasives or chlorine-based cleaners. Proper care ensures consistent bubbling and extends the life of the stone.
