Frequently asked questions about AKP0062
I screw the faucet all the way in, but it won't stay straight. How to fix it?
It is not necessary to screw the tap all the way down. Just tighten it until the faucet stays straight, before the end of the thread — this ensures a leak-proof seal and proper alignment.
Why is a wide shape better than a tall fermentation vessel for Kombucha?
Kombucha fermentation benefits from a large surface area exposed to air, as the Scoby culture needs oxygen at the surface of the liquid to grow and develop. A wide container provides a better surface/volume ratio than a tall container, supporting healthy Scoby formation.
Is AISI 304 stainless steel safe for Kombucha fermentation?
Yes. AISI 304 (18/10) is a food-safe stainless steel and is completely suitable for acidic drinks such as Kombucha. It does not react with tea acids, retains its flavor and is easy to clean and disinfect.
What is the cotton in the lid for?
The cotton fabric allows for air exchange while preventing dust, insects and contaminants from entering the container. This is important for Kombucha because the Scoby needs oxygen during fermentation — a completely airtight lid would prevent the culture from developing properly.
How to clean the fermenter between batches?
Rinse with warm water and use a mild, non-abrasive detergent, then rinse thoroughly. Avoid cleaning products that contain chlorine, as the residue can harm the Scoby. The round welded bottom prevents the accumulation of dirt.
