Frequently asked questions about AKP0033
Is this fermenter suitable for making Kombucha at home or commercially?
Yes, the 150L volume is suitable for both experienced home fermenters and small-scale commercial production. The wide design increases the surface area exposed to air, which is essential for Scoby development and fermentation.
Why is wide construction important for Kombucha?
Kombucha needs a large surface area for the Scoby to form properly and for adequate oxygenation to occur during fermentation. The Ø630mm diameter ensures optimal liquid-to-air contact, leading to a healthier Scoby and more consistent fermentation results.
Can this dish be heated directly on the stove?
No, this fermenter is not suitable for direct flame contact. It is intended for room temperature fermentation only. Use a separate pot to heat the sweet tea before fermentation.
Is AISI 304 stainless steel safe for food and beverage fermentation?
Yes, AISI 304 (18/10) is a food grade stainless steel widely used in the food and beverage industry. It is corrosion resistant, does not affect the taste and is suitable for acid fermentations such as Kombucha.
How to clean the dishes after each batch?
The welded round bottom makes cleaning easy. Rinse with warm water, use a non-abrasive food-safe cleaner and disinfect thoroughly before the next batch. Avoid products containing chlorine, which can harm the Scoby of future fermentations.
