Frequently asked questions about this product
How does this punch make a hole?
You first drill a small pilot hole, pass the bolt through it, thread the die and punch together on either side, then tighten the bolt with a ring spanner until you hear a click as the punch shears through the metal.
What material thickness can it handle?
It works in mild sheet steel up to about 3mm thick and in stainless steel up to roughly 1.5mm thick.
Why use this rather than a drill bit or hole saw?
A punched hole is clean and burr-free, so it usually needs no filing or deburring afterwards, giving a neater result than a carbide drill or many hole saws.
What is a typical use for a clean 20mm hole?
A 20mm hole suits fitting 1/2-inch ball valves and similar bulkhead fittings in brewery and tank builds, where a smooth, accurately sized hole gives the best seal.
