LACTOENOS 450 PreAc®

Œnococcus œni strain for a quick MLF start, combined with the exclusive production process: PreAc®.

Qualified for the elaboration of products for direct human consumption in the field of the regulated use in oenology. In accordance with the current EU regulation n° 2019/934.

LACTOENOS 450 PreAc® allows a rapid onset of MLF. Implementation is simple (in 30 minutes only for early co-inoculation and in 12 hours for late co-inoculation or post AF inoculation).

LACTOENOS 450 PreAc® is aromatically neutral and permits to preserve the fruity character of the wine.

Protocol for use

  • Inoculate as soon as possible. Inoculation methods: - Early co-inoculation (bacteria inoculation 24–48h after the alcoholic fermentation start). - Late co-inoculation (inoculation at 1020–1010 density). - Sequential inoculation.
  • Do not use opened bags.
  • Use a container inert and clean. Mix 1 L of mineral water and 1 L of wine at 20°C for 50 hL dose. Dilute ENERGIZER®, and then add the LACTOENOS 450 PreAc® dose. Homogenise and let it rest for 30 minutes in early co-inoculation, 12h at 20°C in late co-inoculation or sequential inoculation. Add to the tank.
  • Maintain the tank temperature throughout the MLF (at about 20°C).
  • In hard conditions, add 20–40 g/hL of MALOBOOST®.
  • Respect the volume of wine indicated on the bacteria dose (50 hL).

Storage recommendation

  • On reception, keep refrigerated (-18°C or +4°C) in its unopened original packaging.
  • Optimal date of use: 30 months at -18°C; 18 months at +4°C.
  • Do not use opened packaging.

How much wine is one package intended for?
One pack of LACTOENOS 450 PreAc® is designed to inoculate 50 hL of wine. The included ENERGIZER® sachet (250 g) is exactly the same volume. Always follow the indicated wine volume to ensure a reliable MLF start and full bacterial activity.
What is the maximum tolerated ethanol level?
LACTOENOS 450 PreAc® can withstand alcohol content up to 17% vol, being one of the most ethanol-resistant malolactic acid strains on the market. In addition, it works from pH 3.3, up to 60 mg/L total SO₂ and from 16°C, offering a wide operating range for both white and red wines.
When should I inoculate — coinoculation or sequential?
There are three possibilities. Early coinoculation (24-48h after the onset of AF) requires only 30 minutes of rehydration. Late coinoculation at a density of 1020-1010 or sequential inoculation after AF requires 12 hours of rehydration at 20°C. Choose according to the winemaking plan and desired MLF timing.
How to preserve bacteria?
Upon receipt, freeze immediately in the unopened original packaging: at -18°C the optimal usage time is up to 30 months, at +4°C up to 18 months. Do not use open packages. Store ENERGIZER® in a dry place above ground at a moderate temperature — shelf life 3 years from date of packaging.
Does LACTOENOS 450 PreAc® affect the aroma of wine?
No. The strain is aromatically neutral and preserves the fruity character of the wine. It also produces very little diacetyl, ethyl lactate and volatile acids and no biogenic amines, ensuring that MLF contributes to softening and microbiological stability without masking varietal aromas.
