Frequently asked questions about this product
What does the black colour indicate and where does it go?
Black marks this as the liquid (beverage-out) disconnect. It belongs on the liquid post of a ball lock keg and carries beer, cider or juice to your tap, while the grey disconnect handles the gas/CO2 side. The two posts are sized differently, so the black liquid disconnect only seats on the correct post.
The description mentions keg lubricant - why is that important?
Applying a food-grade keg lubricant to the keg posts before fitting the disconnect lets it slide on and, more importantly, release easily afterwards, and it protects the post and o-rings from thread or seal damage during repeated changes. A dry post makes the disconnect hard to pull off under pressure and speeds up wear.
Can I run either push-in tubing or barbed hose from it?
Yes. The MFL (male flare) thread accepts a matching FFL fitting, so you can screw on a DuoTight push-in in 8 mm or 9.5 mm for tool-free tubing, or a traditional swivel nut and barb for clamped hose. The disconnect stays the same; you choose the line fitting to suit your setup.
How should I clean a stainless liquid disconnect between batches?
Because it is machined AISI 304 stainless steel it withstands standard cleaning and sanitising solutions. Disconnect it, flush the beverage path, soak or recirculate cleaner through it, and check that the internal poppet moves freely. Stainless tolerates this far better than plastic disconnects, which is why it suits frequent commercial cleaning cycles.
