Is the fitting suitable for food contact and is it hygienic?
Yes. The transition is made of AISI 316 stainless steel, which is a recognized food contact material. It complies with the DIN 32676 standard and offers the smooth surfaces and corrosion resistance required in the food and beverage industry, including the production of juices, beer and dairy products.
What is the maximum working pressure?
The fitting is designed to operate at pressures up to 16 bar, suitable for both gravity-operated and pressurized transmission lines. Always use the appropriate clamp and gasket and check that the pressure class corresponds to the capacity of the weakest component in the pipeline.
What thread standard is used?
The threaded side is BSPT 1" external (conical British standard pipe thread). BSPT ensures tightness on the surface of the thread itself and is widely used in industrial piping. We recommend using PTFE tape or food-safe thread sealant for leak-free installation.
What clamp and gasket do I need?
The tri-clamp side is a D50.5mm ferrule according to DIN 32676, which requires a suitable DN40 / 1.5" tri-clamp clamp and gasket. In food applications, silicone or EPDM gaskets are typical, for higher temperatures or aggressive substances we recommend Viton.
How to clean the fitting?
The AISI 316 stainless steel surface is suitable for CIP cleaning (Clean-in-Place) and hand cleaning with alkaline and acidic food-safe detergents. Avoid chloride-rich detergents and rinse thoroughly with clean water after each cycle to maintain long-term corrosion resistance.
