1.5" Triclover Stainless Steel Pressure and Vacuum Relief Valve (1.5 BAR/22psi)
Professional 1.5-inch Tri-Clover safety valve ensures maximum safety for your fermentation tank. This dual-action stainless steel safety valve automatically controls both overpressure and vacuum, maintaining stable tank pressure up to 1.5 BAR (22 psi).
Key features of the valve:
- Precisely calibrated pressure relief at 1.5 BAR
- Automatic air intake during vacuum
- Standard 1.5" Tri-Clover connection
- Food grade stainless steel
- Maintenance-free design
The safety valve is specifically designed for safe cold crystallization processes. It automatically prevents tank deformation due to vacuum and protects equipment from overpressure during fermentation.
Easy installation via Tri-Clover connection makes the valve convenient for all food industry applications, especially in beer, cider, and juice production. The stainless steel construction ensures long service life and corrosion resistance.
Frequently asked questions about this product
Why does a fermentation tank need both pressure AND vacuum protection?
During fermentation, CO2 builds pressure inside a sealed tank; during cold crashing the gas contracts and can pull a vacuum that dents or collapses the vessel. This dual-action valve handles both - it vents gas above about 1.5 BAR (22 psi) and lets air back in when a vacuum forms - so the tank stays within a safe range automatically.
At what point does the valve act?
It is calibrated to relieve overpressure at around 1.5 BAR (22 psi) and to open on the vacuum side when internal pressure drops below atmospheric. You do not set it manually; it responds automatically as tank pressure rises and falls, which is what makes it suitable for unattended fermentation and cold-crash cycles.
Why is it especially important during cold crashing?
Rapidly chilling a sealed tank shrinks the headspace gas and creates suction. Without a vacuum path the tank walls can deform inward. This valve admits air automatically as the tank cools, preventing that implosion, which is exactly the failure it is designed to guard against during cold stabilisation.
How does the 1.5 inch Tri-Clover connection help with cleaning and fitting?
The valve mounts via a standard 1.5 inch Tri-Clover (Tri-Clamp) port, so it clamps on and off by hand with no threads. That lets you remove it for cleaning or inspection between batches and move it between vessels that share the same sanitary fitting. The food-grade stainless body is built to be largely maintenance-free.
